  • Built in 7 weeks.

Challenge & Solution

Challenge

Travelers were frustrated by hidden cleaning fees while rental owners lacked platforms promoting transparent pricing models that could attract cost conscious customers.

Solution

We created a rental marketplace focused on transparent pricing and simplified booking workflows, improving traveler trust while helping property owners attract new audiences seeking affordable accommodations.

Story / Origin

The founder booked a cabin advertised at ninety dollars a night and reached checkout at three hundred and forty. The cleaning fee alone was larger than a night's stay. He cancelled, and then spent a fortnight working out whether that reaction was common or just his.

It was common, and the interesting part was that hosts hated it too. Most had not chosen the fee structure. They had adopted it because the platforms rank on nightly rate, which punishes anyone who folds their costs into the headline number and rewards anyone who hides them at the last screen.

So the brief was not really a booking product. It was a ranking and pricing model that made honesty competitive, with a booking product built on top of it.

End Results

The repeat rate is the number that matters, and at 71% it is well ahead of the category. Guests come back because the second booking carries no unpleasant surprise, which is a low bar that the incumbents left on the floor.

Hosts cross-list rather than switch, which was expected, but a growing share now quote their platform rate as their real rate elsewhere too. Longer stays, in the month-plus range, are the next segment being built for.

Features Buit

One all-in nightly price. No fee line items at checkout, and no facility in the system to add any, which was a deliberate constraint rather than a feature we had not got to yet.

Host onboarding includes a pricing calculator that folds turnover cost into the nightly rate and shows the host what their equivalent listing looks like elsewhere, which is what makes the switch feel safe rather than costly.

Search ranks on total cost of the stay as entered, not on the nightly headline, so a seven-night booking surfaces different results than a two-night one.

Calendar sync runs over iCal with the major platforms, since almost every host cross-lists. Identity verification, damage protection through an insurance partner, pre-booking messaging and scheduled payouts complete the transaction side.
