Challenge & Solution
Challenge
Community organizations relied on manual fundraising methods and scattered digital tools, limiting their ability to reach donors and track contributions effectively.
Solution
We created a community focused fundraising platform that streamlines campaign creation, improves donor engagement, and provides transparent tracking of contributions to support local causes more efficiently.
The client works with community organisations: school groups, sports clubs, churches, small charities. The kind that run a fundraiser twice a year and organise it with a paper form, a WhatsApp group and a shoebox.
What they kept seeing was not a lack of generosity. It was that half the money never got counted properly. Cash pledges went uncollected, a treasurer reconciled donations against a handwritten list weeks later, and nobody could tell a donor what their contribution had funded. Volunteers burned out on admin and stopped volunteering.
The commercial platforms were not a fit either. Fee structures assumed a professional fundraising team, onboarding assumed a registered charity number that a school parents association does not have, and the interfaces assumed a level of comfort that a seventy-year-old club treasurer did not.
The offline logging feature is the one that made adoption possible, and it was not in the original scope. Allowing cash to be recorded in the same place as card donations meant organisations did not have to abandon how they already worked in order to start.
780 organisations now run their fundraising here, and the treasurer role, which used to be the hardest volunteer position to fill, is a twenty minute job at the end of a campaign rather than a six hour one.
Campaign creation in a guided flow with templates for the common cases, which is what gets a volunteer treasurer to a live page in under half an hour.
Donation handling covers one-off and recurring giving, employer matching lookup, offline cash and cheque logging so the paper side reconciles inside the same ledger, and Gift Aid style tax declaration capture where applicable.
Progress is public and live, with milestone thresholds that unlock a message from the organisation, since visible momentum is what drives the second half of any community campaign.
Peer-to-peer fundraising lets individual supporters run a sub-page under the main campaign. Donors receive automatic receipts and an outcome update when the campaign closes, which is the part that turns a one-time giver into a repeat one.
The organisation dashboard handles reconciliation, exports and volunteer permissions.
