Challenge & Solution
Challenge
Aspiring investment banking candidates lacked personalized training platforms capable of adapting learning pathways based on performance, often relying on static study materials that failed to simulate real interview conditions.
Solution
We built an adaptive learning platform that personalizes training experiences using performance based progression. This allows candidates to strengthen weak areas, improve readiness, and gain confidence through structured simulated interview environments.
Investment banking recruiting runs on a small body of well-known technical questions and a much less well-known set of behavioural expectations. The guides everyone buys cover the first and are useless for the second.
The deeper problem is that static material cannot tell a candidate what they are bad at. Someone reads a four hundred page guide front to back, spends the same effort on accounting they already know as on LBO modelling they do not, and walks into a superday having practised nothing under pressure.
The founder had recruited for a bank and then coached candidates privately. The coaching worked, and it worked because it was adaptive: you find the weak spot in twenty minutes and spend the remaining time there. That is a one-to-one process and it does not scale, which is what the client wanted to change.
Cutting study time 40% while raising accuracy is the result that matters to candidates, and it comes entirely from not re-teaching what someone already knows.
Several university finance societies now run the platform as their standard preparation, which shifted acquisition from individual sales to institutional and was not the original commercial model.
A diagnostic assessment across accounting, valuation, modelling, markets and behavioural, which sets a baseline and drives everything downstream.
The learning path is adaptive: topics a candidate demonstrates are dropped, weak areas expand into more practice, and difficulty scales with performance rather than progressing linearly.
Mock interviews run timed and pressured, with follow-up questions that branch on the answer given, since the follow-up is where real interviews separate candidates. Responses are scored on technical accuracy and on structure and delivery separately.
Beyond that: a modelling test environment in the browser, a bank-specific question library reflecting the differences between firms, spaced repetition on weak concepts, and a readiness score benchmarked against candidates who received offers.
